# Anurag Gupta — Software Engineer

> End-to-end software engineer across product, infrastructure, and applied AI systems. Scaled systems at a YC-backed startup, built open-source tooling for scientific workflows, and spoken internationally on cloud interoperability.

## About

Anurag Gupta (anuragxd) is a software engineer based in India, working end to end across product, infrastructure, and applied AI systems. Contact: me@anuragxd.com.

## Work

### Farmako (YC S20) — Frontend Lead

*Dec 2021 — Present*

30-minute medicine delivery. Joined as an intern, grew into frontend lead and infrastructure owner.

- Scaled organic monthly impressions from 250k to 20M+ in 6 months through frontend architecture, SEO, performance, and CI/CD work.
- Built farmako.ai, a production virtual-pharmacist agent on LangGraph serving WhatsApp and in-app users: hierarchical specialist sub-agents handle prescription images, catalog search, cart and orders, teleconsultations, and human handoff.
- Architected inventory and ledger systems handling 10M+ operations/month with ~99% stock accuracy.
- Migrated ~20 services from EC2 to GKE and legacy auth to a custom Keycloak SPI.
- Built an internal operations agent on Vertex AI, surfaced through Slack, unifying support, delivery, purchase orders, and warehouse operations.
- Built NHA ABDM-compliant backend infrastructure for India’s digital health ecosystem.

Stack: React, Next.js, GKE, Keycloak, LangGraph, Langfuse, Vertex AI, PostgreSQL

### Pacific Analytics — Senior Software Engineer (Contract)

*Nov 2024 — May 2026*

Platform engineering for an AI-augmented biomedical research platform serving institutional clients.

- Owned platform automation with Terraform, Helm, and Ansible across 6–7 environments for 3 clients — cut environment setup from ~1 week to ~1.5 days and routine releases to 5–10 minutes.
- Built Lumi, a config-driven agentic framework on the Vercel AI SDK: a primary agent delegates bounded work to scoped subagents over authenticated platform tools, with OPA-backed approval gates, audited tool execution, and persisted sessions.
- Built Kubernetes-backed workflow-execution infrastructure for federated bioinformatics workflows used by researchers and scientists.
- Designed zero-trust access architecture replacing legacy VPN-based controls; modernized OIDC service auth into token-exchange and federated identity flows.
- Led frontend implementation across platform applications.

Stack: Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Ansible, Keycloak, OPA, OpenStack, React, Vercel AI SDK

### Elixir Cloud & AAI — Software Engineer (OSS, Part-time Volunteer)

*Sep 2021 — Sep 2024*

Open-source infrastructure for the international life-sciences research cloud.

- Led development of Elixir Cloud Components: 20+ components spanning 8+ GA4GH standards, 5k+ npm downloads.
- Architected core infrastructure and API patterns; maintained developer-facing web platforms used across the research cloud ecosystem.

Stack: Lit, TypeScript, GA4GH, FastAPI

### Oracle — Software Engineer Intern

*Jan 2023 — Jul 2023*

Oracle Elastic Charging Engine (ECE) reliability and QA automation.

- Fixed defects and optimized high-volume real-time charging flows.
- Automated QA workflows via GitLab CI/CD, cutting an estimated ~40 hours/week of manual testing.

Stack: Java, GitLab CI, Jenkins

## Projects

### [conops](https://github.com/anuragxxd/conops)

GitOps controller for Docker Compose. An Argo CD-style workflow without Kubernetes: continuous reconciliation, drift detection, self-healing, private repo support, plus a Web UI, REST API, and CLI.

Used by homelab operators · 34+ GitHub stars

### [Conquest](https://github.com/anuragxxd/conquest)

Workflow execution service for scientists. Runs Nextflow, WDL, and Snakemake pipelines on Kubernetes through GA4GH-standard WES/TES APIs. Workflow orchestration, task dispatch, file staging, Postgres state, S3/MinIO storage, and Kubernetes reconcilers — in Go.

Open source · GA4GH WES/TES

### [DataSlip](https://github.com/anuragxxd/dataslip)

Terminal-first PostgreSQL browser. A query editor and schema browser built with Bun, React, and OpenTUI. Saved connections, row editing, ad-hoc SQL, session restore, release binaries for macOS, Linux, and Windows.

### [Popy](https://github.com/anuragxxd/popy)

macOS clipboard history in the menu bar. A Swift menu bar utility that stores clipboard history in the macOS Keychain, supports global shortcuts, and ships as a sub-500 KB zero-dependency binary.
